Corbett Gardens, established in 1911, stands as one of the Southern Highlands’ most cherished public spaces. Located in the heart of Bowral, this historic garden hosts the renowned Tulip Time Festival, showcasing over 75,000 tulips and 15,000 annuals annually. The gardens attract more than 40,000 visitors during the festival period alone, making it a crucial cultural and tourism asset for the region.
Wingecarribee Shire Council sought to enhance this beloved space with a new water feature installation that would complement the garden’s heritage character while providing a sustainable and visually striking addition to the landscape.
The Challenge
In collaboration with Wingecarribee Shire Council, the team at Irrigear Mossvale helped to deliver and install a comprehensive water feature solution utilising dual Davey dual submersible pump system. These high-performance pumps were specifically chosen for their reliable water circulation capabilities and energy efficiency. The project brought together local expertise from Irrigear Moss Vale for plumbing and Concept Engineering Mittagong for electrical systems, ensuring a seamless integration with the garden’s existing infrastructure.
Implementation
The project was executed through a coordinated effort between our local partners, ensuring minimal disruption to garden operations. Irrigear Moss Vale handled the installation of the Davey dual submersible pump system and associated plumbing, while Concept Engineering Mittagong managed the electrical components and timer system integration. The pump units were strategically positioned to optimise water circulation and maintain consistent fountain display. All work was completed to Australian standards, with comprehensive testing and staff training provided upon completion.
Results
The water feature installation has successfully enhanced Corbett Gardens through:
- Efficient and reliable automated operation with minimal maintenance requirements
- Improved visitor experience and creation of a new garden focal point
