Joint owners Peter Morath, Darren Dodson and Craig Priestley opened the business over 14 years ago with each of them looking for a better home / work life balance. Long stints away from home in their prior roles meant they were missing out on a lot of family time. Two of the three were working for large corporates and the third for a pump manufacturer. In the early days it was just the three of them, and a year later they brought on an admin person. Today they can boast a team of 16 plus contractors on the ready for large jobs. The team has a combined 100 years of experience in the pumping and irrigation industry – delivering a wealth of knowledge at any time. “Primarily we specialise in the supply and installation of all types of water pumps, submersible pumps, pool pumps and our customer list is growing. I’m not sure of the exact number but they are made up of regular accounts and walk ins,” says Peter. “Our territory is pretty expansive, from as far down south as northern NSW, up north to Gympie and across to the Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast. When we started, there were three businesses sharing the one building – over time we’ve taken over the whole complex – knocking out walls and making a workshop and retail area,” Peter says. Mostly they perform project work which includes the use of contract plumbers and drainers, the most recent installation carried out in the new suburb of Petrie Mill, an area in the northern suburbs. Here they completed works in a water play area and public toilet blocks, all using Davey pumps. In 2018 they also completed a number of jobs within the Commonwealth Games village on the Gold Coast, using Davey pumps.  The relationship with Davey started almost immediately when word got out the three friends had gone into business together. It only took a short time for them to move from Davey Dealer to Master Dealer and now Black Master Dealer, a testament to their dedication to the Davey brand.

“Our customers are loyal to Davey – they love a good old Australia brand name. People are no longer satisfied buying offshore products and Davey fits the bill for them. We specialise in filtration, small domestic pumps and home irrigation – we aren’t pool experts but do sell some pool pumps as well,” says Peter.
