What is three-stage UV filtration and how does it work?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<\/div>

There is only one way to ensure your water is entirely free from harmful bugs and bacteria such as cryptosporidium and giardia, and that\u2019s by using UV sterilisation as part of a three-stage water treatment system.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Stage 1:<\/strong> Coarse filtration<\/strong> \u2013 this is where larger particles of dirt, decaying leaves, rust and scale are captured. Poly Pleated Sediment filter cartridges are used here as these can hold a lot of dirt without affecting your water pressure, plus they can be cleaned and reused.<\/p>\n

Stage 2:<\/strong> Fine filtration<\/strong> \u2013 this puts a stop to the smaller particles and further removes rust along with sand, silt, algae and cryptosporidium cysts (>99% effective for a 1 micron cartridge). We use Polyspun Sediment filter cartridges which have no chemical residue or loose fibres.<\/p>\n

Stage 3:<\/strong> UV filtration<\/strong> \u2013 this is where the magic happens. Water passes through a cartridge containing a UV lamp which absolutely annihilates the organisms living in your water. This part is super easy, and you don\u2019t even have to be particularly handy to be able to do this. You can purchase replacement cartridges and lamps through your local Davey Master Dealer<\/strong><\/a> who will often keep a record of when your filters are due for replacing \u2013 making it super easy to never miss a filter change.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

<\/i><\/i><\/span>How often do I have to change the filters?<\/span><\/a><\/h4><\/div>

One of the most important things to remember with a system like this, is that it only works if the filters and lamps are replaced regularly. The last thing you need is a build of gunk which starts seeping into your water supply.<\/p>\n

  • The polyspun cartridge needs to be changed every six months<\/li>\n
