Our History

Davey – 90 Years of Innovation, Trust & Dependability.

Since its founding in 1934 as a one-man business in Carlton, Victoria, Davey has grown into an iconic Australian brand, renowned for innovation in pumps and water management solutions. Originally an automotive electrical workshop, Davey quickly expanded, pioneering water pump systems by the 1940s and establishing its reputation for dependable, durable, high-quality products.

The 1950s saw Davey introduce its first general-duty water pumps, expanding nationwide and opening a branch in Sydney. The company’s signature yellow branding emerged around this time, helping solidify its visibility across Australia. By the 1960s, Davey launched its first swimming pool pump, capturing a new market segment.

Throughout the 1970s and 80s, Davey continued to lead in innovation, winning an Australian Design Award for the Dynaflo Water Pump. The company began exporting to New Zealand and acquired Contamination Control Technologies, diversifying into fire safety and water treatment.

The legendary Davey Firefighter pump was also launched, a product line that still remains foundational in Australian firefighting, emergency water solutions and water transfer.

In the 1990s and early 2000s, Davey embraced advanced manufacturing techniques, including plastic injection moulding, and introduced RainBank, a pioneering rainwater harvesting controller. By the early 2000s, Davey expanded globally, exporting to over 50 countries and more recently, by adding products like the MonsoonIQ2, it has further enhanced its reputation in total water management solutions.

Today, as part of Waterco Limited, Davey combines nearly a century of experience with modern innovation, serving markets worldwide while staying committed to quality, resilience and Australian manufacturing.
