APS Rewinds & Sales was established in 1995 by Managing Director Dave Walker, but he’d worked in the business under its prior name since he was an apprentice – in fact, he has clocked up over 50 years with the business!
These days he has a staff of 12 and serves many customers a week in his sales and service capacities. Workshop service is a big part of the business, accounting for about 60 percent of all transactions.  The business is based in Belmont in metropolitan Perth, about 10 minutes from the city centre. It services a mix of mining, industrial, commercial and residential customers.  “A lot of what we do is indirectly or directly related to mining, plus we have customers in agriculture, domestic markets including pool and pressure pumps – there’s a bit of everything,” Dave says. “If we can offer it, we do it.”  Over the years, Dave has focussed on giving customers what they really need, and that has resulted in a lot of repeat business. As he says, when you have customers coming through your door with the receipt from a purchase they made ten years ago, you know you are doing something right.  “We offer quality service and reasonable prices and we work on the principle of doing what is best for the customer. It’s not always about profit. We look for the product that suits the customer’s needs – and it’s often a Davey because Davey has reliable products.”
“We work with customers that really need the very best attention and we have really never had a complaint about a Davey product. Davey offers us technical support to give our customer the best result, plus dealer support that is rare these days.   With half a century in the business under his belt, Dave says he’s committed to his community and the goodwill it has always shown him.  “We try to give back where we can, through sponsoring various community programs, including Compassion Australia and also by trying to support other local businesses.”
