About Us

As the song goes, sometimes you want to go where everybody knows your name and this is true of B&G Plumbing in Yass, NSW. Current owners Perry and Jane Kemp took over the business seven years ago from Perry’s dad, who had it for nearly 40 years prior - so everybody in town knows them well.

A truck driver by trade, Perry got to the point in his life where he was looking for a new direction and on the suggestion of his Dad, decided to take over the family business. Since then, he’s made changes to the business, consolidating in some areas and taking up new opportunities as they presented themselves - like expanding the tapware side of the business. The business now supplies the local community across a 50-60km radius with everything from plumbing supplies to water tanks, water pumps, home heating and even camping gear. “At the moment we are selling and repairing a lot of bore pumps on the back of last year’s drought. Our customers don’t want to be left short of water again and so business in this area is doing really well,” Perry says. “We employ six staff who are great at what they do. During the 2019 bushfires one of our trained pump guys was flown out to the Nerriga Hotel by the RFS after they lost their water supply. Our guy helped restore water to the hotel which served as a refuge for many during the catastrophic conditions at the time.” The B&G team also completed a big job for SELEX, a livestock agent, running water to irrigation sprinklers across every property they have cattle on. “We knocked this job over in a week with four of our guys using all Davey pumps,” Perry says.

“Dad bought Davey in a long time ago and so our customers are also loyal Davey fans, it’s the only pump brand we sell. We find our customers know what they like and trust, and Davey has proven to be a great brand, with new customers coming on board all the time when they see our Davey signage out the front.”
