Gordon Gibson Nominees opened as the local farm machinery, irrigation, pumping and welding supplies business in Wangaratta, Victoria in 1976, with Gordon using his background in irrigation and hydraulic design, to cement the business’ place in the local region. His son, Andrew Gibson came into the business in 1990, and now runs the business with his wife Lori. Andrew comes from a civil engineering background, but always aspired to running his own business. “Dad was looking to retire, so I was more than happy to take over and run the store. Since I’ve come on board, I’ve incorporated my civil engineering background into a lot of our projects, and still do some consultancy on the side. “My background has really helped us secure more water authority and industrial projects,” Andrew says. “Our customer base is an even split between domestic and agriculture, although ag is the backbone of most of the work we do, as we’ve been working with those customers the longest. “We work on dairy’s, vineyards, orchards and across many types of horticulture clients. That’s mixed in with the residential work with pool pumps and household water systems, and then the industrial side of the business is growing steadily too.”
