Completed in July 2023, 6-8 Monroe Place received a 5 Green Star – Design & As Built NZv1.0 Certified Design Review rating.

A campus style, commercial office building set on a 4,200sqm greenfield site, the 26,500sqm building whose anchor tenant is Auckland Council, boasts extensive floor plates and a central atrium, across six floor levels and is Auckland Council’s most operationally energy efficient building.

About Green Star buildings

The New Zealand Green Building Council provides ratings up to six stars based on a building’s key sustainability credentials. To obtain a Green Star rating, points are awarded across various credits for different categories to rate a building’s performance and environmental impacts with a certain number of mandatory minimum requirements. Certifying with Green Star reduces your carbon footprint, helps create a healthy environment and saves ongoing operational costs.

Non-potable water treatment

The treatment system includes multimedia filters, carbon filters, and pH adjustment for pH control making it less corrosive to materials it comes in contact with and providing a better quality of water for irrigation.

The most significant benefit of the rainwater harvesting system is water saving. In an office building like this, the largest single use of water is toilets – by using non-potable rainwater for toilets and irrigation they will reduce their mains usage and cost by around 30%.

Davey Cloud monitoring by Halo

One of the key features – and crucial to monitoring water saving and performance of the system – is the Davey Cloud monitoring by Halo. With remote monitoring technology Davey and the customer can monitor the following metrics:

  • Water quantity
  • Wager quality – pH levels
  • Differential pressure
  • Flow

One of the key benefits of this level of monitoring is that if something stops working an SMS or email alert is sent immediately and issues can be resolved quickly without any interruption to the system.

Bespoke solutions for your sustainable project

Davey Water Products can design and commission bespoke rainwater collection and treatment solutions for any sized commercial building.

  • Davey RainBank controller for seamless switching between rainwater and mains
  • Commercial pumpsets
